Elatine pepper or povoynechniki pepper (Elatine hydropiper)
Every aquarium lover tries to turn it into a real underwater garden with an amazing composition and content. It is important to choose plants so that they are combined with fish in this aquarium, which will certainly bring comfort, beauty and peace to the house.
A large number of aquarium plants that are used as a design treatment are imported to us from other continents and distant countries. And many of them are very rare and expensive.
Elatina pepper is a fairly new aquarium plant, about which not much information can be found. Its other most common name is pepper warriors. It is difficult to buy this plant, but every day it becomes more famous and affordable.
For the first time, elatin for artificial breeding was collected in Italy. It lives in northwestern Italy. And by nature, lives in swamps, ponds and rivers. In southern Italy, there may be two more varieties of this plant, similar to pepper. The first species is Elatina Hussoni, which is also beginning to spread intensely. And the second type is macropoda elatin.
Elatina pepper is often used to design aquariums. And in nature it grows in water bodies of Europe, the Caucasus and some parts of Siberia. Active growth requires ponds with stagnant water. In general, in terms of care, this plant is unpretentious and thus it is recommended for beginner aquarists.
Maintenance and care
In appearance, elatin is similar to glossostigma. It has stems 2-4 centimeters in length. Because of this, the green rug from this plant looks compact, which is more suitable for small aquariums. Leaves are oblong and oval. The flowers of this aquatic plant are solitary on short pedicels. They have shades of pink and white.
Despite the simple care, the warrior still has its own characteristics of content. For example, this plant is very responsive to the concentration of carbon dioxide in the water in which it is contained. Concentration should be high and stable. If the gas concentration is low and there is poor water circulation, the wortkin may become sick, its leaves begin to turn yellow and small round holes appear on them.
Elatina pepper feels more familiar in an aquarium, with a water temperature of 22 degrees. At higher temperatures, this plant may die. But this does not always happen. In some cases, adaptation to new conditions occurs. Therefore, on matters of temperature, it is better to check with the seller.
The soil for this ground cover plant is better to choose small and light, because the small roots of the plant should easily get through it. For example, fine-grained nutrient soils such as ADA can be used. After buying the soil, it is worth sifting it and laying large parts to the very bottom of the aquarium, and putting small parts on top.
It is worth mentioning the parameters of water in terms of hardness. It can be any, and soft and hard. Also, this plant needs strong lighting in the aquarium. But even if it is with the smallest supply, elatin will be able to grow, it just will not work to achieve a thick and bright green lawn.
It is better to use this plant in small aquariums to get a beautiful and full coverage. The crib is very well combined with many other aquarium plants, they absolutely do not interfere with its growth. A bright green color is wonderful combined with stones and snags.
This attractive groundcover plant grows more slowly than the rival glossossigma. Propagated, like many aquarium plants using shoots under the soil.
