This species is noteworthy in that individuals can change color saturation at different time periods. The fins and tail are almost transparent.
The female differs from the male in a more rounded dorsal fin and a less bright color. With good content, individuals can reach 15 centimeters in length and live more than 5 years.
For food, the most common types of dry, frozen or live food for fish are suitable. Among them are bloodworms, dandelion leaves, etc.
Maintenance and care
To create comfortable conditions for keeping gourami, a water temperature of 22 ° to 25 ° C and an acidity of 6.5-7.5 units are required. Even despite their unpretentiousness, an effective aeration and filtration system is needed.
Individuals begin to breed in 7-8 months. During this period, females begin to spawn 4-5 times with periodic interruptions of up to 15 days. For spawning, it is better to prepare an aquarium with a separate volume of up to 20 liters. Fry should be provided with shallow water up to 10 cm.
