Guppy black prince
Guppy the black prince is a small fish of the Pecilian family. True, it depends on the sex of the fish: females are slightly larger than males and go from three to seven centimeters in length. Males - from 1.5 centimeters to four and a half.
This type of fish is found throughout the globe. However, individuals are more common in the north of the Amazon, in northern Brazil, in Barbados and Trinidad. They are also found in the reservoirs of Guiana and Venezuela.
The guppy black prince has a dark, almost black color. Dark shades cover most of the fish's body, including the tail. Males are painted in a more saturated color. In addition, individuals of this species have bright spots on the head and abdomen.
Very often this species is given out as Moscow blue, although the second tail is not black, but bluish.
Guppies are able to eat and digest absolutely all types of food, but natural protein is preferable. It is best to purchase food intended for tropical fish species. It contains components that can maintain a bright and healthy color for individuals. Granular feed is contraindicated: guppies cannot grab it with their small mouth. It is recommended that you freeze some of the food so that it will retain as many nutrients as possible. Sometimes you can pamper the fish with a small bloodworm, mosquito larvae, shrimp. Guppies can be fed pea shells. The stomach of this type of fish can digest the earthworm, but only on condition that it is well washed and cut into many small pieces. Some types of live food can poison fish. For example, daphnia and tuber worms contain bacteria that can kill any type of guppy. The diet of guppy fry should consist of small feed that they can digest. Such are: small brine shrimp, small bloodworms, ciliates. Since the fry of these fish need a large amount of protein, it is important to ensure that products containing it are present in their diet.
Maintenance and care
This type of fish is very demanding on temperature. It should be from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius. Even with a slight deviation from the norm, the fish can become ill. The water temperature has a particularly strong effect on the fins of males - their condition may worsen. To maintain the desired biosphere in the aquarium, it is recommended to change part of the water (one third), add a small amount of table salt to the aquarium (one tablespoon per ten liters of liquid). Since guppies are schooling fish, they do not suffer due to the small amount of free space. However, one fish is not necessary to populate the aquarium at the rate of one hundred milliliters. The course for optimal fish growth and development should be moderate or absent altogether. In order to emphasize the variety and beauty of guppies, it is recommended to buy fine dark soil and decorate the aquarium with various snags and plants.
Guppy females are viviparous. Also, they, like some other species of viviparous fish, are able to give birth to fry even several months after fertilization. During pregnancy, the female is recommended to be landed in a separate aquarium. Guppy pregnancy lasts five to seven weeks. In her time, the female becomes more aggressive, eats a lot, scares away males from herself. After a couple of weeks, the stomach begins to round, and before that. As the female gives birth, it becomes square and turns black near the anus. The born fry are very small and very often do not survive among inexperienced aquarists: they are hunted by the inhabitants of the aquarium, even the parents themselves are able to eat their offspring if they do not get enough food.
